The Bible teaches that membership in a local church is one of the most basic ways that Christians follow Jesus. In fact, it is so basic that the authors of the New Testament simply assume that every Christian will be part of a local church. The reason for this is simple. The local church is God’s “Plan A” (there’s no Plan B) for growing His people in Christlikeness and reaching the lost for Jesus Christ.

If you’re interested in joining MCC you’ll first need to attend our membership class, where we’ll walk you through our statement of faith, our church covenant, and our life together as a church.

Following that we will schedule a time for you to sit down with one of our pastors. Please don’t be intimidated by this. It’s simply an opportunity for us to get to know each other, and for us to hear about how you came to follow Jesus.  We then ask all prospective members to sign our church’s statement of faith and church covenant.

After you have attended the membership class, met with a pastor, and signed the church’s statement of faith and church covenant, our congregation will gather for a members’ meeting to affirm each new member. The reason we do this is that you’re not just making a commitment to a pastor; you’re committing to love, care for, and serve an entire church community, and that church community is making the same commitment to you. It is one way we remind ourselves of the amazing responsibility we have — and honor — to care for one another.

Before an individual can serve in a ministry or join a life group at MCC, we ask that they first commit to the church by becoming a member.  We have made church membership the gateway to life in the church at MCC.  In order for the local church to be relationally healthy and attractive, there must be commitment.  In Ephesians 5:25, Matthew 16:18 and Matthew 28:20 we learn that Jesus died for the church, is for the church and is with the church.  Jesus is committed to the church!  Therefore, we ask that people first commit to what Jesus is committed to by becoming a member.  Please email Darcy at Darcy.Sparks@marysvillecc.com if you are interesting in becoming a member of MCC.
