Spiritual disciplines are practices prescribed in the Word that have knowing Christ and becoming more like Christ as their end goal! They include bible reading, prayer, meditation on the Scripture, worship, fasting, etc. The spiritual disciplines are both personal and interpersonal—they should be practiced privately and corporately. In our sermon today, based on Psalm 119:9-16, we’ll be looking at the private application of the spiritual disciplines and will be focusing on three: Bible reading, prayer and meditation. As we’ll see in the text, the spiritual disciplines must flow out of a heart that delights in God! May MCC be a church where God’s people are regularly reading, praying and meditating on the Word of God—both privately and together—in order to know God more and become more like King Jesus!
