Ephesians: The Gospel in Everyday Life

3.11.18 - Ephesians 4:17-24

Gospel believing results in Gospel living! Because of our faith in Jesus, and the work of the Spirit in our lives, the church is called and empowered to live differently! Furthermore, we must remember WHAT we've been saved from. That is a major point in our passage for today (Ephesians 4:17-24). Knowing the gravity of our sinful state, before trusting in Jesus, drives our attention to the Cross. It leads to Gospel gratitude! Because we're no longer dead, we mustn't live like we're spiritually dead! In Christ we're alive! Therefore, we must live as those who have passed from death to life! We must put off the old self, and put on the new self! That is the point, not only of our passage, but of the whole of Ephesians 4-6. Because of the Gospel, and our response to the Gospel, we must live differently. Jesus provides us with all the resources needed to live differently! What Grace! Our motivation to live differently is rooted in our Gospel gratitude for all that Christ has done for us to bring us back to god. Amen!
