Following The King

9.17.17 Sermon - Mark 12:38-44

Who or what has your heart? Are you completely devoted to Jesus Christ as King? Do you treasure Jesus above all things? These questions are meant to assess the heart and whether or not you have entered into God's Kingdom. In our passage, Mark 12:38-44, we have two kingdoms on display-the kingdom of self and the Kingdom of God. Jesus calls His followers to beware of the scribes, those who are more concerned about their own glory than God's glory. The widow's sacrificial giving, seen in verses 41-44, is to characterize those who belong to God's Kingdom. Have you committed your whole life to Jesus? Are you regularly investing in gospel-significant things (e.g., the tithe, missions, helping those within the church, serving others, etc.) with your finances and your time? The One who gave everything for us at the Cross calls us to give our whole lives to Him! Let's pray that MCC would be characterized by sacrificial giving for the gospel (in all things) that trusts God!
